Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin begins TODAY!

Twice a year, Berlin transforms into a national and international fashion metropolis. The next Berlin Fashion Week will take place from today, January 28 to February 1, 2009.

A new fashion season is in full swing, and the women's ready to wear shows are upon us. With a new partner in Peek & Cloppenburg KG Düsseldorf, it is primed to become a major player on the global scale. Two designers will be awarded the "Designer for Tomorrow" award after the eight candidates present their work on the runway for buyers, media, fashion experts, and a jury of judges; the winners will be partnered with a mentor and given an initial contract. "For us, the support of young talent is an essential part of our engagement in fashion and we feel there is a huge need to guide these designers through the first steps of creating their own business," said IMG Fashion Europe vice president Maia Guarnaccia. "This award does not just hand out money, but the winners will be accompanied by an expert of the industry, so they learn to make the right choices at the beginning of their career."
