Christian Lacroix: Paris Haute Couture 2009

"He has this great Spanish influence and loves very feminine clothes," gushed Ivana Trump of Christian Lacroix's Spring 2009 Haute Couture collection. "He loves the ruffles and uses spectacular fabrics in beautiful colors." This season's collection, entitled "The Designs of Her Nature," was a vibrant celebration of what Lacroix enjoys most: excess.
Enormous diamante hoops were paired with stacks of bangles reaching up to models' elbows; organza, chiffon and taffeta overflowed from an evening gown, embroidered flowers were paired with appliquéd ones in clashing prints.
Kanye West, sitting front row next to Catherine Deneuve, remarked, "This is inspiring on so many levels from how the show is put together to the models to the music." Far from a sense of gloom, there was exuberance in the air: as Lacroix took his finale walk, attendees threw the roses found on their seats in his honor.
