Funkshion: Fashion Week Miami

The sunlit sands of Miami Beach will be packed with fashion tents this week for the 12th annual FUNKSHION: Fashion Week Miami Beach. The four-day event aims to showcase the vibrant, innovative creations that have made the Miami trend market an international hot spot of new and emerging design talent.

The festivities kicked off on March 25th with the Green Fashion Miami runway exhibition of “eco-fabulous” designs made with environmentally-friendly, sustainable materials. A highlight of this year’s Funkshion fashion week, the Green Fashion Miami collections were presented by former contestants and titleholders from the Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss Earth, Miss Intercontinental and Miss Latina International pageants.
The main hub of fashion tents and sponsor booths is located in the Lummus Park sector of Miami Beach. Each venue offers members of the international fashion industry a chance to view the latest apparel from AKOO by singer T.I., Little Louie Vega, Krelwear, Maya Swimwear, MIUAD, Indashio, Monica Exposito, Diana Dorozhkina and Parish.

The week’s mix of progressive and contemporary designers will present their handiwork to media, style makers, international buyers and style-wise connoisseurs in a series of music-fused runways shows. Newly established talent are eligible to compete for the prestigious Emerging Designers Award and an opportunity to bring their wares to Milan, Italy’s own Funkshion: Fashion Week.

About Funkshion: Fashion Week Miami Beach, Russell Simmons, the founder of the Phat Farm fashion line said, “Miami really is the fashion capital. They say that it is New York, but really, all of the energy is here and all of the new ideas are here.”

See you there! :)
